Dream:
In my dream, I found myself in a forest, riding a horse that was grey in colour and had no saddle.
The horse was also dragging a wagon which carried some of my clothes, my mother's and my
sister's. The sky was a bit cloudy, as if it were about to rain.
Then, as the horse galloped, I saw my father whom I haven't talked to or seen for a long time. He was also riding a horse, the colour of which I couldn't remember. He rode past me and I rode faster to catch up to him. But the ground turned into water and I felt like I was falling off my horse. I called to my father to take my hand but his hand turns invisible when he reaches out. Then I woke up.
In reality, my father left my mother, my sister and me for another woman seven years ago.
Interpretation:
The mood of your dream appears gloomy and it seems that you have had a very dark outlook towards life after your father left your family. You also feel helpless because in your dream you have nothing to hold on to. More than that, the wagon of clothes suggests you want to support your family but find it a burden. The color of your horse further says that you're not sure about yourself and if you
can manage helping your family.
Catching up to your father many mean that that in real life you want to prove that you can take on the challenge of supporting your family after he left you all behind. On the other hand, catching up to him may mean that you want to talk to him about unresolved issues you are still dealing with in relation to his leaving.
You also feel very insecure when you're near your father since in your dream you fall off the horse. You also still look to him for help but the invisible hand tells you're unsure if he can actually reach out to you.
Try to get over the assumption that you have to carry this problem alone. Spend more time with your mother and sister--you went through this experience together, draw from a common pool of shared strength. Being united with your family might help you brighten up your outlook towards life and give you more confidence in yourself.
If you are struggling against unresolved issues about your father's actions, it might be good to find time to talk to him or your mother. Talking it out with your mother or father may help you vent out your emotions, heal from the trauma and, eventually, forgive.
